One GIANT Step!

BUSY, BUSY weekend. Saturday morning we got up and went downtown to help with the Alzheimer's walk. It was a lot of fun and the weather was beautiful.

They passed out Nylon flowers and you wrote the name of your loved one on it. We had to place them all in the ballpark "Memory Garden" and it looked really cool once it was done.


Then, we went to Norman for one of my friend's baby shower. (Well, my husband dropped me off and ran errands...) It was THE MOST AMAZING shower I have EVER been to. She is having a little boy, Cooper, and the theme was "The Circus" since her nursery is in Sock Monkeys. Look at these pictures:





Pretty amazing, huh? It was straight out of a magazine. There was sooooo much more than what I showed. Phenomenal job...

Then, after a BIG SOONER WIN we drove home and slept fast. Why? Because, today was our Home Study! I was expecting it to be sooooo much worse than what is was. The CPS worker was so nice, and she complimented me on my house. She told my husband that our house was one of the most nicely decorated house she has ever seen. THANK YOU! I needed a compliment on a day like today! (And she had good taste, so it was something I could take as a compliment!) She is pregnant and started to feel sick, so she is coming back next Sunday to finish Z's one-on-one interview. The best part is:

Yep, that's right! The nursery is ALMOST cleaned out completely! Thank goodness! ~Amy

Garage Sale: CHECK!

So this weekend we had a garage sale. We only had it on Saturday and the hours were 7:30-12:00. I was not messing around. At first, it was slow and I about hit the panic button since we are trying to come up with as much money as possible to pay for this Home Study next weekend. Luckily, around 10am, it picked up and we made $460.00!! And, that is after expenses like permit, ads, signs, etc! Not bad for a couple of hours, huh? That will get us close to 1/2 of the total cost! Phew!

Saturday afternoon turned into a good time! Me, my mother, and my mother-in-law went shopping for BABY B!!! We got a crib:



and a whole traveling system. Look at this cute bassinet we got to go along with it. It snaps into the stroller turning it into a new version of a buggy. SO cute!



I am OVERWHELMED by this baby stuff! Why are there 3,298 brands of bottles and things to choose from? Ugh! STRESS! I REALLY wanted the Orbit travel system, but with all of the costs associated with adoption, I talked myself out of a $2,000 travel system. I asked my friends, and read online what was the best/safest, and the consensus was Britax. So Baby B will be fully protected in it! A local baby store was having a great deal... If you bought the stroller, bases, etc, you got the infant carrier for FREE! You are limited to the colors that they had in stock, so green it is! I could really care less about the color, but we were laughing because my mother was obsessed with it. Green is the color of the Thomas Terriers, and without Zac's family we wouldn't be where we are, so the green travel system is some homage! ;)

The birth mother is going back to the doctor on the 27th of this month, so fingers crossed, we will know the sex on the 28th! Yea! ~Amy

Happy Birthday Presh!

This Labor Day weekend was filled with two things: 1) My husband's 31st birthday and 2) STILL cleaning out the garage to prepare for the nursery evacuation. Yes, I used the word evacuation because it needs to be completely emptied. The good news is, we are about 60% done! PRAISE THE LORD!!! I had no idea that it would be this bad! Yikes, I have a TON of stuff.

So back to the fun part of the weekend, celebration! Friday night we went to Eischen's with some friends. It was a fun time! It is hard to plan a birthday party for my husband, because his birthday always lands on Labor Day weekend. A lot of our friends were at the lake, or in fun places like NYC! (Jealous, much?) :)



Then, we went to my in-laws for a family celebration. He got the 3 things he loves the most; money, shoes, and anything Boston Red Sox!



(I also got him some Red Sox pacifiers for Baby B!)

Speaking of Baby B, two things. First, our attorney received medical records and Baby B is healthy! Yea! Secondly, we will HOPEFULLY find out the sex at the end of September, because the Birth Mother's next appointment is September 27th. PLEASE keep your fingers crossed because I REALLY need to get this nursery together! :) Amy

It's Time to Make Our BIG Announcement!

So my husband and I have been spending the last three weeks in another one of our infamous whirlwinds... This time for GOOD reason. We are ADOPTING!!! We hesitated to post in on our blog, because we wanted to make sure we told as many people close to us as possible (sorry if we forgot you!). Here is how the timeline goes:

July 29th - Met with an adoption attorney and he tells us he has the perfect baby for us
August 2nd- The deadline to tell the attorney if it is a "go" or not
August 4th- Deliver the check and sign the contract
August 15th- Met the birthmother
August 17th- Were supposed to find out the sex, but didn't :( (fingers crossed for September)
and MOST importantly:
December 25th- DUE DATE!

Isn't that insane??? We will be parents in 2011, after all! Please keep positive thoughts and prayers for us and our birthmother, to make this VERY long dream of ours FINALLY come true!

Redo, Part Deux

We have a lot going on right now, which I will share at a later date. We have been on this home improvement kick, most recently the patio. There are no before pictures because it was just uber plain... Here is the after:

So the next thing we have to work on is the "nursery":

Lord, help us... Do you see this? I am so overwhelmed, I want to cry. Last night we had friends over for a cookout and one of our friend's daughters (like 5 & 9?) offered to clean it out for $100. The older one was appalled that her little sister would charge, but please! Nobody would take that on for free!! :) They were so cute. (Is it bad that I am really thinking about utilizing that resource??) Then, the guest room... that is a nightmarish mess. What happened? We started something and then it just all went downhill.... Boo...

Our Weekend Redo

So this weekend, we finally finished the garage:

Today at work a coworker said, "Hey you got a lot of sun this weekend... on your back..." Awesome, but true. Since we were facing east, the sun burned the back of my arms, neck, and back. How nice...

Then we decided to do something indoors. This is my first piece to ever refinish and I am really happy with it. It's nothing like my friend Chelsey could do, but for a beginner, I am pleased!

We Need a Four Leaf Clover, Rabbit's Foot...Something!

So 2011 has not been the best year thus far, so when all of our 4th of July plans blew up, it was expected... First of all, as you have seen in my previous July posts, I LOVE Fourth of July with the Roof Family. It is the best cookout/family time/firework extravaganza EVER! So, this year I bought a cute navy and white striped sundress, bought 3 dozen cake pops decorated for the 4th, and was ready to go. Whoops... Custer County is under a burn ban, which means NO FIREWORKS so no Fourth celebration. BOO! Oh well, next best thing, my friend has a boat and house at a lake here in Oklahoma and we were invited! Yea! Lake on the 4th! Woo-hoo! Oh, but wait... a FREAK kind of algae took over the lake and the lake was closed for the holiday... OF COURSE!!!

So we spent the 4th painting our garage. Yes, it was 104 degrees... Here is our fun:
