Sweet Baby James

Last night a friend and I went to Tulsa to see James Taylor, and his son Ben, kick off their tour. AMAZING. The venue (the Brady Theatre) was so intimate and the acoustics were out of this world. What a wonderful time. James Taylor is hysterical, and his son is not too bad to look at either! ;)

I am so disappointed because I did not take my camera. EVERY concert I have been to lately doesn't allow photography, so I just assumed this would be the same. WRONG. I could have gotten some really good shots because we were so close! Ugh. Here are the best I could get on my crappy 3G Iphone:

We Need Your Help!

Hi, blog friends. I need your help. Last Tuesday night a guy I graduated high school with was at a pub with his family watching a basketball game when a disturbance broke out and he was asked by the staff to assist. Chad was off-duty at the time. In helping to assist the men out of the bar, he was attacked by these heathens and now left paralyzed. We are hosting a fundraiser/auction on his behalf to help his family with future expenses.

I have not spoken to Chad since high school, but I can tell you he is one that I will always remember because of his amazingly sweet demeanor. He was one of the nicest people I ever had the blessing to call a friend.

Please let me know what you are willing to donate to help this cause. We are looking for items that could be auctioned.

Also, you can donate to the Municipal Employees Credit Union (for more information call 813-5500) or eat at Jason's Deli this Tuesday from 4-10pm. 10% of all dine-in sales will be donated.

Thanks in advance! ~Amy

Showering With Love

Last night we had a Vintage BBQ/Couples Shower at our house honoring our dear friends, Court & Katie. We had a great time, and I heard some great stories about my husband in college. We had our favorite go-to catering, Swadley's, and cupcakes that were divine.

We had such a nice time, and it brought back so many fun memories of all SEVEN bridal showers I had. Each one touched with love, and a good time. Being surrounded by friends, you just feel warm. I laughed so much last night, I woke up with sore muscles. I know I have mentioned this numerous times before, but my husband's friend, Russell, is seriously one of the funniest people I have ever met. He had me laughing so hard last night, he coined me with a new nickname, "Cackles". Thanks, Russ...

Valentine's Day... I LOVE My Husband, NOT American Airlines

Happy Day After Valentines Day! I hope everyone had a great day o' love! My Valentines Day started out with a trip to Lawton and then arriving back to the office to see these:

Was I happy at the thought? Sure... But I was REALLY shocked my husband sent these to me. Why? Well, he knows 2 things about me and flowers: 1) I HATE HATE HATE baby's breath. Like, seriously HATE and 2) Not a huge fan of roses, red is my LEAST favorite. So, when I called him to tell him thank you, I asked if he knew what they looked like, and he said no. I texted him a picture, and needless to say he was disappointed and explained that he said NO baby's breath, but with a caveat that peonies are not in season right now.... He also said that my present would make up for it and HE WAS RIGHT! He got me Michael Jackson's Experience for the Wii and I have been dancing every night as if MJ was reincarnated into my body. Tonight, I hit master level on Thriller, but hey... who's bragging?

So, this weekend we were going to take the train down to Austin and fly back on Monday with friends of ours for a fun weekend getaway. Well, our friends had a family emergency, so are not going to go. I quickly called American Airlines to explain the situation and asked if we could use that airfare to book a different flight. Well, they told me that they would be happy to help me for a $150 fee. I sat there for a second because I thought maybe I did not understand them correctly. No, I did.... They wanted to charge me $150 PER TICKET for "change fees" for a $129 flight. Hmmm.. really? Did I mention that I am an American Airlines Advantage member and we use them ALL THE TIME? Well, not anymore. I am L.I.V.I.D. Needless to say, we just flushed $260 down the drain. THANK YOU AMERICAN AIRLINES! Your customer service is impeccable. RI-dic-U-lous!

Have a GREAT week! ~Amy P.S. Our dog is learning how to pose....

Tooth + Tree = Mess

Well, it is now day 16 since my wisdom teeth have been pulled and I am still in excruciating pain. Why? Because I have a FRACTURE TOOTH! How does this happen to me? Murphy's Law. I live by it!Tomorrow, I have an appointment with the endodontist, and I hope that everything is taken care of. At this point, I don't even care if they have to extract it; I am just ready to be done with this mess!

Speaking of mess, since we missed big trash day in January, we finally got rid of our Christmas tree today for tomorrow's pick up. Yeah, a Christmas tree was still up in February... See for yourself:
The only positive thing that happened this weekend was celebrating Gavin's 1st birthday! Happy Happy Birthday! Look how sweet!
Have a good week! ~Amy

Snowmageddon 2011

One of the things I "love" about Oklahoma is how our newscasters create catchy names for weather events; thus welcome Snowmageddon 2011.

Aunt Kimmy had surgery Monday and was at Mercy hospital. Unfortunately for her, she was discharged yesterday right in the middle of the snow storm. Her home is about 100 miles away, so Debby and Kimmy have been sharing their snow days with us. It has been fun having a house full. We have eaten, watched movies, reminisced over old pictures, and well... that's about it.
Bo, however, is LOVING the snow!

Let's hope the Governor calls state employees off tomorrow too! Happy Snow Days! ~Amy
