Read.This.Book.

Ok - I stayed home from work today, because I am a little under the weather. I'm sure the 80 degrees one day, 34 the next has something to do with it. Anyway, a friend of mine posted on Facebook that she just finished this book, and I bought it months ago and it has been sitting in our bookcase ever since. I finished it in about 2 hours. It is amazing. Amy

Girls, Sleep Deprivation & a Big Announcement.

So Friday night I went down to Norman to assist my best friend, Jami, with her daughter's 10th birthday. Me, Jami and twelve 9 and 10 year-olds. Oh my.... By the time bedtime came, we were exhausted! Through all of the talk of Justin Beiber, boys, and other fascinating things, my favorite part of the evening was when it was time for "lights out" and a movie and 85% of the girls asked if I could help them get into Jami's WiFi network. They all busted out their iTouch, iPhone, iPad, whatever and went crazy. Now, I know I was a spoiled little girl, but really? My goodness, children are growing up quickly. I am pretty sure at 10, I still drooled over my Malibu Barbie Dream House, right? The girls were teaching me about the 4G network, and why I need to update my phone. It was sad and hilarious all at once! Here is the birthday girl; I can't believe she is so grown up! Look at the difference 5 years makes (In her, not my crow's feet....)

So anyhow.... We are going public with our BIG news... We have OFFICIALLY decided to adopt and are EXCITED to start the process this July! We have just come to terms with the fact that it might not be in the cards for us to have a genetic child, but we have a lot of love to give and there are a lot of children that could use the Bradt's in their life. Wish us luck on our journey!

The Power of the Dyson.

So for the last 3 weeks, I have been running non-stop. I have been putting in 50 hour work weeks, attending meetings for the different organizations I am in, and putting all extra free time into this auction for my friend, Chad. That being said, my house has been neglected. We had some free time yesterday before 1:00, so we did some spring cleaning. Our bedroom has not been vacuumed for 3 weeks and it was ABSOLUTELY disgusting. Having beige carpet and not thinking you are that dirty (with a long-haired dog) can disguise a lot of stuff. That is why I am proud, yet sickened, to be a Dyson owner. I love my vacuum. If God came to me and asked me what was the one material object on Earth that brought me the most joy, I might answer with, "my Dyson." Here is why:
I am hoping this picture does it some justice. Can you see the inside of the container??? FULL. Full of hair and dust and we almost died. Moral of this story - my bedroom is a cesspool! Nasty! Have a great week! ~Amy

Oh....Lent.

So today starts the 40 days of deprivation. I chose to give up shopping. I wish I could take it back already. My new Boden catalog came in, Nordstrom's announced their anniversary sale for next week, and Home Depot is having a killer sale on patio furniture. Ouch. 39 days to go and I am already suffering. I guess that is what it is all about, right? ~Amy
