Nice Weekend

We had a really nice weekend. First, Friday night we stayed home and watched T.V. We did not do anything exciting, just relaxed and enjoyed each others company. Saturday, I went shopping with my husband's cousin and we got mani/pedi's. SO relaxing. He stayed home and watched his OSU Cowboys beat Kansas. Then, we went on a double date and I learned that oil "pumpers" really don't "pump" oil. That was the joke of the whole night... lucky me!

Today, we went to church with a friend of mine, Jala. She is SUPER talented. Jala and her twin sister are "local celebrities" in the singing world. They appeared on Can You Duet and did really well. I missed it, because that was before we were friends, but anytime I mention her name to someone I get, "Wait! Was she on Can You Duet with her twin sister? She is such a great singer!" Not to mention a great singer, she is a GREAT person. I love her to pieces. After church, I had a small emergency that led me to the bra department at Dillard's. There is something to be said about an $80 bra... Another lesson in you get what you pay for. So nice....

Then, even better, we got to meet my husband's little brother's girlfriend. I don't want to talk about it too much, because I don't want to jinx it. Let's just say we would be more than happy to have her in the family!

To end the great weekend, we took Bo to PetSmart for the first time. We were prepared to deal with a HOT MESS and lots of breakdowns. To our surprise, he was sooooo good! Look how cute he was!

The only thing that would have made my weekend better, was to be in Chicago for my cousin's baby shower... (tear)... I'm not too upset though, because we will go meet sweet little Lola in April when she is born... I just hope she is born on my birthday! Best gift ever! Have a great week! ~Amy

Hello Lent!

Well, yesterday kicked off Lent. This is my life until Easter:

This year I am giving up ALL sweets! Ugh! This is truly devotion! Last night I was wanting chocolate so badly, and I said to my husband, "but I love chocolate!" His response: "more than Jesus?" And match....

I can do it, though. I'm a pretty strong woman. Mind over matter, right? My husband gave up all fried food & soda. That's a pretty tough one for him too! We have each other to get over it!

Speaking of having each other, I love my husband... I've been having a really difficult time lately, and he has been my rock. (It's also nice that he is an attorney)... As soon as I was about to pull my hair out and cry, he would email me some statute or information to prove that I was in the "right". I love him, I love him, I love him. It is so wonderful to know that I can depend on him 100%. Today I had a small victory, and once I told him this evening, his answer was, "Don't mess with the Bradt's!" Truly, madly, and deeply in love. He is my world.

Other than that, my doctors think that they have me on the right medicine to get my body "calm" enough to get pregnant. We are discussing the option of fertility drugs. A nurse I work with pointed out that if you only ovulate 1 egg/cycle and only 20% of my eggs are viable, than why not rev up my production so that instead of 2 eggs per year being good, 10 or 12 could be? Great point! The only thing is, after 1 year of shoving hormones in my body, I think it is finally back to normal. Taking these drugs will just destroy the progress & make me a mess again. So, we have some things to consider.

Good news is, we are planning our March vacation. This will be small because we are planning a BIG one for our anniversary! Any ideas for a fun getaway? ~Amy

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

I am a person that likes to boycott the "tradition" of Valentines Day... I just think that if you have love 24-7, why show it on just one day? Let's don't even get into the crowds, crappy food at double the price, and bad service you get at restaurants! And, if my husband only sends me flowers on the one day that he is "supposed" to??? We're in trouble! Today, we are staying in and enjoying our little puppy! (Yes, he is spoiled... we know...)

However, we did go out to dinner as a "Pre-Valentines" date with our friends the Brinlee's & Tatro's. We had a great time; good company does that for you!

My poor husband... It gets me thinking about last year on Valentines... He made reservations at this 5 star restaurant in Oklahoma City prepared to romance me and I got SO mad! I was yelling about how he knows I hate restaurants on Valentines Day and then I broke down in tears. Hey, in my defense I was taking hormones for the first time! Nonetheless, I apologized; though, I do think I have scarred him forever!

P.S. I haven't totally become "bah-humbug" on the holiday... I made him homemade chicken fried steak (which is REALLY hard for me since I didn't even know about it until I met him) with mashed potatoes, green beans and a cookie cake!

Has Fort Worth Ever Crossed Your Mind?

Well it has ours! My husband and I decided that 2010 will be the year about us. We have decided that every month we are going to take a trip, whether it is somewhere fabulous for a week, or somewhere local for a weekend getaway. We are determined to focus on US! So, with that being said, we chose to go to Fort Worth this weekend. I have only been to Fort Worth once, and that was to go to T.C.U. for pom camp in high school. I didn't even know that they had a stockyard that was so famous! Well, let me tell you - we fell in love with this town! We started off our Saturday by playing with our dog, and then we hit the road. Unfortunately we got a flat tire on the way and had to stop in Marietta to have it fixed! Nonetheless, we made it! Here is the view from our hotel: Wonderful architecture (you know that was once my major...) We walked around and saw the sights, and he was in full humor mode: After we got comfortable, we went to the stockyards and yes... I wore boots:

My husband cannot believe I bought this, but it had the sweetest little face, and it is now in our entry way! (Who said I can't be a little country?) Speaking of, I learned that there is a difference between "ranchers" and "farmers" and now I also feel comfortable being able to pick a real cowboy out of the crowd from a "city slicker." Good Times!

We went to dinner at Joe T. Garcias and it was everything it was cracked up to be and MORE! Delicious! The funny thing was that a pitcher of margaritas was more expensive than a combo fajita order! Well... that didn't stop us! It was - by far- the best margarita I have ever had!

We woke up on Sunday and went to visit our friends Jeremy, Melodie, and their precious boys Holden & Paxton. (I am VERY angry that I forgot to get a picture!) Holden is hilarious! He loved having me around, because I would pick him up and let him turn the light on and "ofth" hundreds of times! I just cannot believe he is going to be 2 in May. Time flies! Then there was sweet little Pax, who was sick, so he wanted to cuddle. Ooh! I could eat him up! We always leave their house feeling awesome about the power of adoption. You can truly feel the love & blessing in their home.

Needless to say, Fort Worth will be a place we visit again SOON and if we should ever move due to my husband's career, that will be the place we want to go! Have a great week! ~Amy

Welcome to the world Gavin Scott Roach!!!! The little man was born today REALLY early in the morning! Mom and baby are doing great and labor was pretty easy! Here he is:
