It all started the night of Winter on Western (12/6). We were going to take Jude to see Santa, look at lights, eat dinner with friends, etc... Well, the MINUTE we got him out of the car, he projectile vomited everywhere. We took him to the After Hours clinic and they told us a stomach bug was going around... So, missed some school, felt better.
We took him downtown that weekend to see the Devon display. He was doing well... so we thought...
Look how cute and happy! (I shouldn't speak so soon....)
We got a call from his school Monday. PINK EYE! So, missed some school and work again; got him better. That Thursday, got a call from the school again.... Throat virus.... missed more school & work - trying to get him better. That Monday, call again... Yep, PINK EYE AGAIN! By that Thursday, he still wasn't well and I started to get worried. My husband took him to the doctor and they told us he had a sinus infection. We got antibiotics and started treating. He wasn't getting better. On the 20th he was running a fever, so he was taken out of school and we cared for him at home. He missed his school Christmas party on the 21st. :(
The morning of the 22nd, we didn't sleep AT ALL because Jude was up screaming. Not crying, SCREAMING. I know you all only know about Jude's temperment through the blog, but he is ALWAYS happy. We knew something was wrong. He was also lythargic in the morning and wasn't eating... again... bad signs. We took him to the After Hours clinic and his fever was 103, heartrate over 200, and his respiratory rate was 85. Someone should have just injected me with an anti-psychotic at that point because I was FREAKING out and crying like someone had been murdered. The doctor treated him with Motrin and Tylenol, and told us he had Bronchiolitis. He started feeling better, but I just had a bad feeling... We were supposed to go to my in-laws on Sunday night, but waited until Monday because he was fever free. See... look how happy he was:
Getting spoiled and loving every minute! He didn't have a fever on Christmas Eve, felt good, eating better... than BOOM! Christmas Eve night and early Christmas morning, SCREAMING again. He was rapidly breathing, etc... I freaked out and we went to the ER. Guess what.... RSV!!!!
I KNEW there was something more to his sickness. Temperature topped out at 105, they immediately gave him a breathing treatment and he went to sleep... poor baby. I have to say that the hospital was amazing and the staff was even better. He was in his cute Christmas pj's ready to see what Santa brought him when we got to the hospital - Look how cute. They are monogrammed with "Jude's First Christmas" on the pocket.
He was obsessed with the oxygen monitor on his toe! Cutie. They were about to admit us to the hospital, when all of a sudden his oxygen rates got better. The doctor was so pleasantly surprised and discharged us with meds and home breathing treatments. On the 27th, we went to our doctor because he was still not himself, and well... go ahead and add a double ear infection to the RSV....
EXHAUSTED!
The good news? He is better now. Eating, happy, playing, low fever. Thank you, Jesus. All in all December was quite a ride, but you know what? Still the best Christmas ever because this little man is in our life. So in love.
Look at his precious little body by the tree (which he is obsessed with, buy the way). I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. Merry Christmas.
