Day Sixty Seven: Muslim

So I have been sitting on an interview panel for the last couple of days with my friend, Sam, and a man I just met named Nabil. I didn't know much about him before these interviews, and after the last couple of days, I think he might be one of the nicest people I have ever met. Just a really good heart. Upon talking with him I discovered he was Muslim (I kinda' jumped to conclusions and figured as much) and he told me about his Faith. It is funny how similar it is to Christianity. He believes in the New Testament and all, it just comes down to Jesus and Mohammed. He has a lot of respect for Jesus, and believes he is a Prophet, just not the Son of God. We also talked about the radical terrorists and how he cannot understand where they come from because in their religion, murder sends you right to Hell. No forgiveness. Very interesting. It makes me question what will really happen to people that believe in Jesus (just not as the Son of God) and believe in the same God while living morally strong. Can we really say they won't go to Heaven? If we were born in Lebanon or Saudi Arabia would we be Muslims? They think they are as right as we are regarding our Faith and we are all speaking to the same God, remember? So weird... And, regardless, look how cute these kiddos are!

  1. so interesting huh. our church, under the strong leadership of our pastor, has been building relationships with the Muslim people (and also Jews). it's just been about living in peace together and loving one another, regardless of our beliefs. our pastor doesn't apologize for his beliefs, but instead has explained we should still be able to have friendships and geniuine love for ALL people, if we really believe what we say we believe. if you want a little peak, read here. Amy, i think you'll dig it. :)
