The Pity Party is Over

So, while for the past 3 or so weeks, my life could be summed up by the famous I Want to be Sedated by the Ramones, the pity party is over. There have been recent events to a family close to us that has made me realize what true tragedy is. I am not going to go into it, for the privacy of the family, but our hearts are broken for our friends. They were so nice to us during our losses, sending a funny card, sending sweet thoughts but we are at a complete loss as to what we can do for them. If they are reading this, just know we are here for you for ANYTHING. It doesn't matter what time, date, cost, whatever. We think of you hourly and hope you can one day find peace; there are no words.

Speaking of words, here is what I have been struggling with lately. The infamous, "God only gives you what you can handle" line. My response is, "Really? What tragedy have you gone through lately?" (I find the people that have such insightful one-lines like that typically have not suffered tremendous loss) So, note to everyone out there, even though the pity party is over, my bitterness isn't! :)

I am really tan right now and I love it. People keep asking where I got my nice tan and I wish I could say Barbados. Unfortunately, my answer is Edmond. We gutted our front flower beds as well as my mother's in the past two weekends. On ours, we switched mulch colors and it was a nightmare. See for yourself:

We also found mysterious eggs in the flowerbeds - what do you think they are? My husband cracked one open, but it looked cooked... almost like a hard boiled egg. I was too scared to see, just in case there was a baby bird or something. Hmmm.....
