The Week O' Z....

Well, for those that don't know, my husband will FINALLY be 30 tomorrow!! We have been celebrating since Friday. Here's what has happened:

  1. Friday night, we had a 80's party to celebrate his birthday with his friends. It was so much fun! Everyone dressed up, we had great BBQ, and jello shots. It was great.

Then Sunday we went to Watonga and celebrated with the fam. Z got everything he wanted for his birthday and more! I surprised him with a Tag watch, his parents got him a new rifle and my mom got him a wallet and the ACTUAL moose drinking glasses from Christmas vacation. Yeah, you heard me.... She had them custom made from the artist in Canada... The thought was wonderful, but what am I going to do with glass moose mugs? When she first showed them to me, I had no idea what they were. When she showed them to Z, however, he was excited... he loves that movie!

To end the "Best Birthday Week Ever" we leave for Boston on Friday! I think I am just as excited as he is! Well, more for the shopping and the ambiance of the east coast, not baseball!
Happy Labor Day everyone! See you when we get back! ~Amy

Busy Weeks & Busy Weekends

O.M.G. That is all I can say about my reaction to Christmas trees in Hobby Lobby. Is it really almost Christmas? WHAT has happened to the summer? To the spring? To 2010? I am still telling people I am in June, whatever.....

We have had the craziest couple of weeks! Here is a synopsis of what we've had going on:

Last weekend we hosted a party for some of my coworkers. Band Hero is dumb. My chicken, however, was good. I had a taco bar that was basically all the "fixin's" for street tacos. I will share the recipe because I stole it from my friend Mackenzie. 1 package of frozen chicken, 2 cans of Rotel, and 1 package of taco seasoning. You put it in a crockpot on low all day and when you get home from work, the chicken will be shredded. Delicious. I have used it for tacos, burritos, enchiladas, taco salads, etc... I also made my famous margaritas, but that is a recipe I cannot share. ;)

Last week was nuts, as well... We had meetings, dinner with friends, golfing, too much! Friday night was Jeff's 30th Birthday:

We went to Eischen's to celebrate the big day, and in true NW Oklahoma fashion, saw 3 people from Z's hometown. It never seems to fail! Then yesterday we celebrated Trevor's 7th birthday in Norman. The boys played laser tag, ate pizza, played games and had cake. Everything a little boy loves.... well and big boys too, as you can see from this picture:

We had the best time! Alex (Trevor's sister) and I kept playing that stupid game where the ticker lands on a number and that is the number of tickets you get.... After just knowing I was going to hit the 1,000, I realized we had spent over $30.00 and she might get lucky to get a 3 inch plush smiley face....What a rip off!

Today, we woke up and went to Wal-mart... the place I hate the most. I haven't been to the "Land of Things Made in China" for over 3 months, but it was the only place open at 8am where I could get the things I need, ugh! Anyway, we came home and got ready to go to church with the Brinlee's as their son, Mason, was being baptized. It was so awesome, and we are so thrilled we got to be a part of it. Mason is such a little character. During the praise time (I'm not sure I'm saying that correctly, because Z and I don't attend contemporary services) he turned around to Hilary and said, "I don't like this part." It was so funny. Kids. So honest! We spent the remainder of the day at Penn Square shopping for things for Z's BIG BIRTHDAY! 30!!! So excited I will have a husband in the same decade as me.... Finally! He is going to be so excited when he sees my gift; but then way disappointed at Christmas because I spent both budget's on this one thing! Oh, well... You only turn 30 once! Have a happy last week of summer! ~Amy

Nasty Hot

Well, we went to the Bob Dylan concert and it was amazing. The only thing bad about it was, it was nasty hot! I do not sweat very much (probably related to Sjogren's) but it looked like I jumped in a pool by the time the sun went down. Here's the reason why.... We paid for VIP seats. Worth EVERY penny, if it was October, but in August, not so much. There is not an ounce of breeze because they pack you in like sardines! We sat literally 6 rows from Bobby D, and I really almost cried when he came out. Everyone who knows me knows that music truly moves me and to see a legend like that, rockin' it out at 69.... AMAZING! My friend Melanie and I (she went with us as a b-day gift to her) were cracking up though, as we headed into the concert. 50% of the crowd was 60+ and the other 50% were hippies. Z decided to "dress himself" for the concert and sported a Lacoste polo with Ralph Lauren shorts and Sperry's. O.M.G. We were dying! He looked like he was about to board the yacht. Don't get me wrong, he looked super cute, but stuck out like a sore thumb! Then, as I was laughing at him, the joke was on me because I buy all of his clothes! I am going to have to add a little vintage to his wardrobe!

We didn't make it to Step Up 3, because I started feeling REALLY sick on Saturday. I am not sure what is going on, but I am deducing that it has something to do with the fact that I have been on antibiotics since the first of June!!!! I will be finished on Tuesday, so we will see how I feel. Oh, the antibiotics were for an abscess root canal I had to have fixed.... just in case I forgot to mention that in the previous "Why I've Been So Busy" blog!

Today we went to "Cow-Town" to buy me some cowboy boots. Here is the question I have for anyone who wants to answer it.... How is it possible that I will always find the most expensive thing in the store? Even in stores where I have no idea what I am doing? (i.e. cowboy stores) So, we walk into this store that has rows upon rows of boots. I have absolutely zero talent in Western wear, so a boot is a boot to me. Well, apparently not because the boots that I loved and immediately saw like a shining star in a mess of dull were $1200!!!!!!! My husband turned to me and said, "How is it possible that wherever we go you can find the most expensive thing in less than a minute?" Honestly.... I have no idea!!!!!! Nonetheless, I was not about to pay that much money for a boot that don't have red soles, so I settled in the sale section for some basic brown boots. Still cute though, right? Have a good week! ~Amy

Sorry...

So I have been catching a lot of grief for not blogging lately... We have been B-U-S-Y! Unfortunately, it hasn't been with good stuff. I have been to 3 funerals in 3 weeks. Ugh. Today was the last funeral that is "scheduled" for me to go to. Today's was a really hard one. I lost my sweet friend Cathy to Huntington's disease. She was the warmest person I have ever met, and will be truly, truly missed. The service was so nice, Cathy would have been proud.

Anyway, on top of all of that; I also have picked up a stomach flu, our a/c went out, I DESPERATELY need a maid, and am redecorating the guest room. I still have 2 gallons of paint sitting in my dining room for over a week.... LOTS to do!

This past weekend however, was the Watonga Football Hall of Fame ceremony and since Jarrod was being inducted, we went. We had a nice time. I was cracking up because at the start of the ceremony we said the Pledge of Allegiance, and then clapped along to the Watonga Fight song, which apparently has no words. HI-larious! Magan and I were loving it! I honestly don't know if I have said the Pledge since elementary school. Then, the fight song started and everyone just started clapping. I turned to Z like, "What in the world" and he whispered, "Our fight song doesn't have words." I was very tickled at that. Maybe I should write some words to the fight song for them... I am hoping that there really are words, and he just doesn't know them!

(For my older friends out there.... Does he not look like Jake Ryan from Sixteen Candles? Oh, Jarrod.... sooooooooooo cute!)

Tomorrow night is Bob Dylan and I am sooooooooooooooo excited! What an honor to see him live! I cannot wait! Then Saturday is the premier of Step Up- 3! (I love dance movies).....
