Nascar Sounds Fun, Right???

This weekend, like all lately, has flown by! I cannot believe it is almost Easter! Unreal! We are also only 20 days away from my 33rd birthday! Ugh...

We did not take a fun vacay this month, since we are getting new floors. They should be installed next week and we are pumped! No more stained carpet! Woo-hoo! Now, it's off to planning my birthday weekend. I was real serious about going to a Nascar race, since I've never been, (and yes mostly to people watch, since I hate Nascar) but nobody wanted to go. Apparently it is too W.T. for our friends. Well, boo! Now I have to think of something else! We have the Dominican in May, Canton, Tx in June, and a surprise for my husband in September for his 30th! We have to plan out July, August, November and December to end our year of travel. (I really want July to be the Noodling Festival in Pauls Valley...but I doubt he will take me....)

Yesterday we went to the OKC Arts Museum Cafe for my father-in-law's birthday! The rest of the family got to meet Lance's girlfriend (including my mother)! As expected, they all loved her! She is so precious! I told Lance & Anna Ruth yesterday that if they break up now, it will devastate the whole family! :)

Happy Last Week O' March! ~Amy

Time FLIES!

So yesterday, in the blizzard, we headed south to Norman to attend my "niece's" birthday. This was also my flower girl, for those who were at the wedding. In 4 short years she has gone from this:

To this: It is so amazing how time flies. 4 years ago the little girl who loved stuffed animals and my homemade waffles, thinking spending the night with "Aunt Amy & Uncle Z" was the coolest thing is now all about peace signs, lava lamps, and being independent. I can only imagine how her mother feels! It was so funny yesterday, because at one point she was having a "moment" where she didn't want to skate anymore. She was hanging on the wall, scared of falling down. Two of her friends came over to the wall to console her, and I over heard this:

Katelyn: "Alex? What's Wrong?" Alex: "I'm scared I'm going to fall." Katie: "Alex, that's what life is all about, sometimes you fall down, but you have to get right back up again." Katelyn: "Yeah, Alex, you can't let this control you." - I about died! I was laughing so hard! Who are these girls? Dr. Phil's long lost daughters!?!? TOO much! It was hysterical!

This coming Friday, the floor people are coming to measure our rooms. We have decided on real wood for the living room (Havana Cohiba- My husband was sold on it immediately, since he loves Cuban cigars) and - are you ready for this? - LEOPARD carpet in the dining room!!! Yea!!! Those who know me, know I am not afraid to take a risk! It actually looks really, really good! Even he loves it! I know, it's a little bold, but hey, what's the worst thing that could happen? It's carpet!!! If in a year from know we cannot stand it, we will replace it with the boring beige! I am really excited. I hope they can lay it before my birthday. I promise I will post pictures after it is finished... You'll see, you will like it too!

Have a great week! ~Amy

It's Official!

Well, we have talked about it for a long time, and it is finally official.... We are heading to Punta Cana, in the Dominican! Woo-Hoo! We are PUMPED! 5 days in paradise!!! We are leaving on our anniversary, and cannot wait (see below)!!
St. Patty's day came and went. It is one of my favorite "non" holidays! I love green, I'm Shipping Up To Boston by the Dropkick Murphy's, green beer, the rolling hills of Ireland, I could go on and on..... We went to Belle Isle and had dinner and hung out for a while, but BOY! Times have changed! I was home, in bed by 10pm! We had a fun time!

Tonight we went to Bo's 3rd puppy class and he was an "A" student tonight! I was so proud! It was pretty cute too, because my husband was walking him in the circle, doing tricks, and he would look around to find me and wag his tail as if asking if I saw him! Too cute! I am totally turning into one of those people I used to love to hate! Hey - I haven't put him in dog clothes, yet...

Lance made it safely to Haiti and should be back on Saturday. He seems to be having a great time, and really helping people out. We are so proud of him. Have a great weekend, even though it might snow!

March Madness Begins!

Our dog has A.D.D.; bless his sweet heart. Puppy class #2 was almost identical to #1. This time, however, "sit" and "down" were not even registering as the attack dogs next door were barking. The icing on top of the "our dog will never be well-trained" cake was when the trainer told us that we are to scold when he jumps on ANYTHING, including the bed... Well, that stirs up a problem when he sleeps with us, huh? ;)

Friday, I spent the day with Magan and baby Gavin. He is SOOOOOOOO cute. I mean just precious. He is seriously darling. He just smiles and at one point as I was calling him "Sugar-Booger" he was laughing. Ah! Just melts your heart. That night I made Z dinner (one he requested) to bribe him to watch Precious with me. Bad idea. I shouldn't watch those movies. It makes me want to do three things; (1) Question God on who He chooses to give babies to; (2) Castrate all child molesters and finally; (3) Adopt every child alive that is exposed to that lifestyle. CRUSHING. Where does the human heart disconnect? How do you treat a child like that? Just awful...

Saturday was spent with our dear friends, the Brinlee's. Mason had a soccer game, so we went to watch. Here is what is hilarious... He doesn't really like soccer and since he is only 3, they allow the children to have a parent with them on the field. Jeff told us at halftime that when Mason saw us coming he stopped and said, "Look dad, there's Uncle Z and he has a Sonic drink!!" So cute, he says the funniest things. They are building a home in north Edmond, so we went to see it almost completed. We all went in Jeff's Avalanche, boys in front, girls and Mason in back. Mason turns to me when we were about 1 mile out and said, "Aunt Mamy, we are almost there", and then tightens up his little fists and whispers to me, "I'm SO excited." Too funny! Hilary and I then went and met a friend of mine, and her friends, for her birthday dinner at Red Rock. I love girls nights!

Well, I am sure if you are married to a sports enthusiast like me, you know starting Thursday night, you will have no life. I (even though I hate basketball) enjoy watching March Madness. Z, as I have stated before, is amazed by my bracket. I have come close to taking 1st before...pretty good considering I pick the teams based on their mascots & records! Ha!

Have a good week! -Amy

Redemption!

So for those who do not know, my husband didn't do so hot for Valentine's Day this year... It's not his fault, he's a man. We went to Ft. Worth and decided since we took a trip, we wouldn't "do" Valentine's. Poor guy, he took that literally. (This is not normal for my husband... I mean, he is the one that sent me a dozen amazing roses the day of our wedding with a card that said, "I can't wait for you to be my wife.") Not that I did a lot for him for V-Day, but it was something. You know... a card, his favorite meal (from scratch) and a new blue-ray DVD. So, on Valentines Day when he went that morning to get me a card with an I-tunes gift card and some candy (that I do not like), I was surprised. I think he could tell by the look on my face that I was shocked & a little sad. Shortly after, he told me "something is in the works", and when I get it "I would forget 2/14/2010" and boy was he right!!! Friday when I got home from work, setting on our kitchen table was the purse that I have drooled over for about 1 year. COMPLETELY SHOCKED! I will never doubt him again! He was redeemed!

Saturday was a crazy mess! I had junior league, then mom and I went to Piedmont for an art sale, then to the grocery store to get ingredients for food that night and then - the trivia challenge. Now, the last challenge we took 1st place (out of about 40 teams) and this time we had those same expectations. This challenge we ended up in 6th place out of 70 teams. Not bad, but not our best. Here is the issue: the categories. For example, two of the categories were The Peanuts (comics) and The Belushi Brothers... Yeah... I did not know 1 single answer, but we are still proud!

Today we went and looked at new flooring. We can't decided on carpet or hardwood. Then, if we go with hardwood, do we want real or synthetic? If this was a house we were planning on being in for more than 5 years we wouldn't question it, but since this isn't going to be a place we stay in, we are having a hard time justifying real wood. $5.99/sq ft vs. $2.99/sq ft??? Synthetic might be it! Then, if we do pick wood, do we pick the dark wood (because it's our favorite) knowing that all of our furniture is dark and I know it will make our room look smaller? Ugh... I know, what you are thinking.... carpet, right? ;)

Here's some fun news... My husband's high school Alma Mater is in the state basketball tournament! Apparently that is BIG TIME for small towns and I think it is wonderful. We were hoping to go, since it is in the Oklahoma City area, but the games are Thursday @ 2pm and Friday @ 9am! HELLO!!! People have to work and I doubt many bosses would be OK with taking off work to attend your old high schools' basketball tournament. I wish the games started about 5pm, because we would be there with our black and red on! Keep your fingers crossed because if they make it to the "big game", it will be Saturday night and we will DEFINITELY make that one!

I'm Afraid We Have a Marley!

So tonight was puppy training and at best Bo got a D. We had choke collar on him, pulling tight as instructed and he acted like it was made of feathers... "Heel" "Sit" and "Down" are all things that are going to take a WHILE for him to obey. Also, while all of the other dogs were sitting or sniffing the ground, our spoiled, rotten brat wanted to be held. We realized then that we have a male "princess" on our hands. He looked at us like he could not believe what we were doing to him. It was cold, he was not being held, there was no sofa to cuddle on... the audacity!!! Poor little guy.... we've created a monster!

We will go back next week and hopefully do a lot of homework. I kept looking at him and saying, "BO! You are embarrassing us... look at all of the other good puppies...." He just looked at me like, "Whatever" and then would lick me on my face. Heaven, help us...

This week has flown by for me! I have taken a tour of Oklahoma for work. I have been from Altus to Tahlequah, and I feel like I could take a quiz on small town America and score 100%! I think that I have traveled over 1,000 miles!

Enjoy the weekend, the weather is going to be fantastic! Oh, and
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARB!!!!
